We weren’t planning our next excursion until April but due to popular request, we went ahead and planned an earlier one. The location? Schoonhoven.
Renowned for its silver, Schoonhoven is a city and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. Nicknamed Zilverstad (“Silver City”), silver smiths have been present here since the 17th century.
The stores selling intricately designed silver jewelry were all closed on the dry, yet chilly Sunday of January 5th but that didn’t keep the photographers away, many of which joined for a bite to eat in the small but cosy Eethuis de Waag.
Schoonhoven is also a city of clock making with small scale clock makers, some of which can be visited, still present in the area. When the town clock rang 13:00 the group headed out in search of all things interesting to photograph.
The purpose of our excursions is to provide an opportunity for like minded people to meet-up for a couple of hours, explore a new location and get some great photos. All levels, cameras and photography preferences are always welcome and we always think that is what contributes to these excursions being made up of a fantastic group of people. This excursion was no exception.
The group easily found topics of conversation to share with each other (both photography related and not), some new connections were made and some interesting photos were created (or so we hope!).
The sky did eventually cloud over and the sunset we were hoping for didn’t quite appear but the excursion to Schoonhoven was still a success!
For more details on our next excursion, keep an eye on the website.
